USA, Malawi, Conferences August 2010

This Sunday's Bible Companion readings are from Jeremiah 29 and there's an MP3 about this chapter at http://aletheiacollege.net/audio/jer29.mp3

USA
The response in North America continues unabated, there's interest appearing everywhere. We're pleased to share the following news from JAMES, who hopes to be baptized this Sunday at the Glendale, Arizona ecclesia. We're grateful to them for their support in this matter. Here are some clips from old emails, going back some years now:

I would like to thank you Marcus for your quick response in sending the Bible Basic Books. I am grateful that you sent additional copies as requested even though you did not really know us. In addition thank you for sending the Wrested Scriptures Book for this has been beneficial.... The truth of the matter is that I had never heard of the Christadelphians until I found the Bible Basics Book at the local library. When I began reading the book I was taken by surprise. Pleasantly surprised! I was so excited that I could not wait to find out what was going to be said next, or to read further into a subject. I did go through the book rather quickly because of my excitement, plus wanting to get a larger picture of what was being taught. Now I am going through it slower, reading the verses more thoroughly and having more time to ponder the scriptures. I am currently in study 4 - God & Death ... I am still trying to finish Bible Basics. I am currently in Chapter 9 - The Work of Jesus. As I mentioned before I am reading through a second time, reading the scriptures more intently. I have to say God is good! I am simply amazed at the things the LORD is showing me. I am often in awe of his marvelous plan...  I truely am excited about all that I am learning! I feel that my walk and faith is stronger than it has ever been, and I am truely thankful!  I now look at scripture and wonder how I could have thought differently. One of the things that came to my mind is how Jesus would talk in parables, and the scripture that talks about people continually studying but never coming to the knowledge of truth. Unless the Father reveals these truths to us we simply cannot see....    On a different note please be praying for us. I will be interviewing for a Supervisor position on Thursday for a sister mine down by Phoenix, Arizona. Pray that the Lords will be done, if it is His will I know that I will be given the position. I am excited to get this position for many reasons, but one that I am very excited about is that there is an ecclessia near by - the Glendale ecclessia. Again, as much as I want this, I want it to be Gods will. Because this will be challenging for my wife and especially the kids, I want it to be God directed, if we are to move.... [they did move!] ...The good news is that Lord willing I will be baptised this Sunday. (Please see the announcement below) I am very excited! The other good news is that my wife is now intently studying Bible Basics as well. Duncan I simply want to thank you for allowing God to use you in writing Bible Basics and the unknown person who donated to have the book placed in various libraries... even in a small mining town library in Ely Nevada. It is amazing how God works! The journey has been long but I know that God has directed my steps to lead me to where I am now.  Again thank you and may God Bless you and your family!

With love in Christ, your brother James

Subject: Baptism!!

As some of you know, we will be having baptism this coming Sunday, August 8!!  Jim Vath of San Tan Valley, AZ gave a good confession of his faith in his interview with bro. Ron and I on Saturday July 31 and so we will be meeting at the home of bro Dave and Sis Mert de Caussin.  The baptism will take place at 11AM and memorial service will follow immediately after. We will be having a guest speaker for exhortation, bro. David Jennings from the Pomona ecclesia in California.  He and his wife, sis Mary Kay will be there to help us celebrate with Jim as he puts on the saving name of Jesus Christ and enters the family of God.

UKRAINE
News about some Messianic Jews being baptized in Ukraine is available by email.

MALAWI
We remain in contact with the brothers and sisters in the refugee camps here; they have many practical and spiritual needs for support, and we're wondering if anyone's up to doing a trip there? Please let us know.

RIGA BIBLE CENTRE
We continue our feeding programs, Bible classes, breaking of bread and 'elder training' program. continuing the 'trainee elders' classes and activities as well as "Advanced Bible Class", which this last Monday attracted nearly 30 bre & sis. It's wonderful to see people who attend getting more familiar with their Bibles, being able to turn up passages at ease whereas a month ago they were floundering to find references. So here are three of our 'trainee elders' [Vladimir, Yuri and Vlad] peeling potatoes- on the basis that eldership is through servanthood:

And here are Yuri and Sasha assisting with baptizing our latest brother ULDIS earlier this week:
